The bank was founded in New York, September 5, 1935 Henry Morgan (Henry S. Morgan) and Harald Stanley, who were among the shareholders of the bank JP Morgan & Co., by separating from the parent company (JP Morgan & Co). Morgan Stanley previously worked with corporate and institutional investors, and Dean Witter Discover credit cards produced and provided brokerage services to private investors. Led the combined company Purcell, who led before Dean Witter Discover. The combined company called «Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co.» until 2001.
